  123.         PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

  125.         PrintPlus was written to print files to the printer with 
  126.         options to save printing paper by skipping extra blank lines.
  127.  
  128.         PrintPlus can view files, redirect output to an ASCII 
  129.         file, Tag and copy, move or delete files and more. 
  130.  
  131.         The program interfaces with the user with pull down menus and
  132.         optional mouse support for easy and powerful use.
  133.  
  134.         Configurations are possible for printer setup, screen colors
  135.         mouse functions, text output, e.t.c.
  136.  
  137.         Can print filename, current date/time and File's date/time at
  138.         the top of the first page.

  179.          You can now set what directory your default settings ,
  180.          Plus55.dat, and Plus55.mon resides in.
  181.  
  182.          1. Load your autoexec.bat file into your file editor,WP, etc.

  184.          2. Enter the following, adding it to your Autoexec.bat
  185.          file.

  187.          set PLUSDATA=\util
  188.  
  189.          Where util would be the directory  you want Plus55.dat to
  190.          occupy. Change 'util' to whatever path you want. PLUSDATA
  191.          must be in upper case (Caps) and make sure there's no spaces.

  193.          3. Save AUTOEXEC.BAT back to your Root Directory.
  194.         
  195.          4. Now your data file will load and be saved to your chosen
  196.             path.

  199.          RUNNING THE PROGRAM:
  200.          --------------------
  201.          You should make a copy of your disk first.
  202.          The only file you absolutely need, to run PrintPlus, is
  203.          P55.exe.
  204.          If you place PrintPlus on a hard drive, make sure to have
  205.          it within your path for easy access.
  206.          Files I would recommend to place on disk are these.

  208.          P55.exe          Main program "PrintPlus".
  209.          P55doc           Documentation for PrintPlus.
  210.          Plus55.dat       Data file for color monitors.
  211.          Plus55.mon       Data file for monochrome monitors.

  213.          Check the file PACKING.LST for a complete list of files.

  215.          To get the program up and running simple type in the
  216.          name of the program  at the Dos prompt.
  217.

  221.          At the top the path will be shown.
  222.          In the top box the file name will be displayed that's under
  223.          the cursor. The file size will be to the right.
  224.          If its a directory " DIRECTORY ║ " will be displayed
  225.          instead.
  226.          At the extreme right the amount of free bytes available will
  227.          be shown.

  230.          Using Alt-I you can toggle this on and off. This will speed
  231.          up the cursor on a slow floppy when this is toggled off.

  235.          MENU BAR
  236.          --------

  238.          Under this box the Menu Bar will be displayed.  This will
  239.          show your options. Press the first letter of the menu
  240.          desired to pull down that menu. Example: Press 'V' for the
  241.          View menu. Once a menu is displayed you can use the
  242.          Left/Right arrow keys to move to  the subsequent menus. The
  243.          Up/Down arrows will take you through the options of that
  244.          specific menu. [Enter] will either choose the option the
  245.          cursor is on or change the value. (Pmode,Header,Imitate)
  246.          You may also press the first letter of the desired option.

  249.          MOUSE USERS:
  250.          Pointing to and clicking on the desired menu will pull
  251.          down that menu.
  252.          When inside a menu point to the option desired and click
  253.          on it to either choose that option or change it.

  255.          you to the subsequent menus. Right button escapes.

  359.          Pressing [Alt-P] will display how many pages it will take
  360.          to print the file under the cursor. The # of pages will be
  361.          shown for each of the Pmodes (1 2 3) so that you  can
  362.          easily compare the paper savings for the subject file.

  377.          PICKING THE FILES TO PRINT

  380.          MARKING FILES TO PRINT

  382.          To mark a file for printing move the cursor to the file and
  383.          press the space bar to mark it. To un mark a file press the
  384.          space bar again. It works as a toggle.
  385.          When marked there will be an arrow < to the right of the
  386.          filename and the filename will be in `Mark' text . The
  387.          exception of the above is if it's a `Today file' it will
  388.          have a  smaller arrow marking it at the end.
  389.  
  390.          MOUSE USERS:
  391.          The right button is used to mark the files, unless you 
  392.          reverse the buttons with Ctrl-B.
  393.          
  394.          TODAY FILES:         Filename.ext■
  395.         
  396.          Any file with today's date will be displayed in 
  397.          `todaymark'■. This makes it easier to find a file you
  398.          just down loaded etc. for printing. When these files are
  399.          marked for printing they will also be in the `Mark' color
  400.          and have a `small arrow' at the end.

  405.          If there are more files than will fit on one screen
  406.          pressing [Page Dn] will bring you to the next screen. This
  407.          will unmarked all files on the previous screen so print all

  478.          CHANGING PRINTING MODES

  481.          0 1 2 & 3  are used to change the way the files are to
  482.          be printed.

  484.          0       Will print the file straight through, without any
  485.                  reformatting are formfeed stripping.
  486.                  This works great with doc files with embedded 
  487.                  formfeeds. Also when printing from page n to n.
  488.  
  489.          1       Will print the file skipping the perforations and
  490.                  adding a formfeed at the end of the file.
  491.          
  492.          2       Does the same as 1 plus skips any blank lines
  493.                  beyond one. This reduces paper waste and still leaves
  494.                  very good readability.
  495.          
  496.          3       Same as 1 but cuts out practically all of the
  497.                  blank lines. Reduces paper waste the most but may be
  498.                  somewhat harder to read in some cases.

  502.          When the file(s) are being printed... The name of the file
  503.          being printed will be displayed in the menu bar. Along with
  504.          the current page number being printed.
  505.          
  506.          Press [Esc] to abort printing. This will bring up a
  507.          prompt.

  509.          Press T to abort the current file and continue with the
  510.          rest. Press [Esc] to abort all. Press C to continue with
  511.          the current file.

  516.          If you choose to print a file without marking a file
  517.          an input box will open with the file under the cursor.

  539.          PRINTING FROM PAGE n TO n

  542.          Press [Ctrl-P] to print a file from a certain page to another
  543.          page.

  545.          You will be asked to input the starting page and ending page.
  546.          The end page will also be printed.
  547.          If you want to print just one page enter the same page for
  548.          both the start and end page.

  550.          The program has to calculate the first page depending on the
  551.          pmode that's set. If the page number starts far into the file
  552.          there will be a short pause until the page number is found.

  554.          If HEADER is on This will be printed right off, Then the page
  555.          will be found to print.

  557.          This function works best in Pmode 0 and header off.

  567.          [Ctrl-N] toggles the line numbering on/off.
  568.          With this on line numbers will be printed before each line.

  573.          compress printing on while using line numbers.

  635.         Before a copy or a move PrintPlus checks to make sure 
  636.         the files will not be copied to themselves. 
  637.         For example if you try to copy from/to the same path.

  639.         If there's not enough room PrintPlus will not copy that
  640.         file. It will try the next file.
  641.         If you want to abort press escape.
  642.         The files not copied or moved will still be marked.
  643.  
  644.         Also if a file already exist you will be asked if you 
  645.         want to overwrite it or not.
  646.         If you wish to overwrite a file PrintPlus checks to make 
  647.         sure there's enough room. Files with the same name can be
  648.         of different length.

  660.         When copying or moving files the default settings will copy
  661.         the original date.(like Dos copy command)
  662.         If you would like to copy/move files with the current date,
  663.         you can set this up in the setup menu. After you choose 
  664.         the set up menu, with S, You can toggle NEWCOPY with N.
  665.         This is an unconventional setup and a caution box will come up.
  666.         This is completely up to your preference.
